What Realtors Should Actually Be Posting on Social Media

Let’s have an honest moment—how many times have you sat down to post something on Instagram or Facebook and thought, I have no idea what to say? So scroll Instagram to find some inspiration and can’t find anything you like, so you end up not posting. Maybe you find a random real estate Canva post, slap on some generic copy, and hit post. Or maybe you try to jump on a trend you see everyone else doing hoping it goes viral, even though it doesn’t quite feel like you.

Here’s the thing: you’re not doing anything wrong. You’re showing up, and that matters. But if you’re wondering why your engagement feels low or why people aren’t connecting like they used to, it might be because your content is missing the you.

People don’t follow Realtors just to see the latest listings. They follow Realtors they like, trust, and feel connected to. And that connection doesn’t come from a templated post—it comes from real life. Real stories. Real personality.

That’s what people want. And that’s what you should be posting.

Your Daily Life Is Content

Let’s be clear: social media isn’t just a place to perform—it’s a place to connect. You don’t have to hop on every trend or perfectly lip-sync to every viral audio to stay relevant. Those things can absolutely be fun and useful if they align with your style, but they shouldn’t be the foundation of your strategy.

The real magic? It’s in your everyday moments.

The things you probably think are boring or “not worth sharing” are exactly what helps your audience get to know you. The iced coffee you grab before a showing. The screen shot of your Notes app with your to-do list. The five-minute breather you take in your car between appointments. The messy desk while you prep a contract. The puppy in the passenger seat. The common question your client asked.

Plus-your every-day life also counts! You’re shopping for a new piece of furniture, going out to lunch or dinner, found a snack you’re obsessed with, what you’re watching on Netflix. These personal snapshots are where you will connect with your audience!

These aren’t just moments—they’re content. They’re little windows into your world that help people feel like they’re walking alongside you. And when someone feels like they know you, it makes working with you feel like a no-brainer.

It’s Not Just About Houses. It’s About You.

Let’s zoom out for a second. You became a Realtor to help people, to guide them through some of the biggest transitions in life. Whether it’s a first home, a downsize, an investment, or a relocation—you’re not just opening doors. You’re building relationships. You’re solving problems. You’re showing up in the late nights and early mornings and in-between moments that no one sees.

Why wouldn’t you share that?

Instead of only posting the polished wins (the closings, the staged homes, the “just sold” announcements), start showing the journey too. Tell the stories. Invite your followers in. Share what you’re learning, what you’re seeing in the market, what you really think about that new neighborhood, or what advice you’d give to a friend looking to buy in this climate.

This doesn’t mean you need to overshare or treat your business account like a personal diary—but it does mean being more human in your approach.

Not Sure What to Share? Start Here.

Here’s the great news: once you shift your mindset to realize that your everyday life is content, it becomes so much easier to show up consistently.

Think about it like this: instead of “creating content,” you’re documenting what you’re already doing. You’re just narrating your life a little more intentionally.

Start small:

  • Snap a photo or a short video during a showing and share what kind of buyer you’re helping.

  • Take a moment to explain something in plain language—what a home inspection is, how earnest money works, what happens after an offer is accepted.

  • Share a “client win” that isn’t about price—maybe you found a perfect neighborhood near their favorite coffee shop, or you helped them buy a home they didn’t think they could afford.

  • Talk about the real behind-the-scenes work: scheduling photos, prepping listings, negotiating terms, checking on paperwork.

It’s not about being “perfect”—it’s about being real. You don’t need professional photos or a perfectly curated feed. You need consistency, relatability, and heart.

And If You’re Still Stuck...

I get it—coming up with content ideas every week isn’t easy, especially when your schedule is packed and your brain is full of contracts, comps, and client calls. That’s why I created a weekly Monday email just for Realtors.

Every Monday, I send out free prompts with:

  • Instagram Story ideas that build trust and connection

  • Post and caption inspiration that fits your real life

  • Easy-to-follow themes that keep you consistent (without burning out)

They’re short, simple, and made with you in mind. No trends you have to force. No pressure to post perfectly. Just helpful, human-centered ideas to help you stay visible, valuable, and aligned with your brand.

Reminder: You Are the Brand

At the end of the day, the homes you sell are important—but you are what makes the difference. You are the reason someone chooses to click “follow.” You’re the reason they reach out instead of browsing Zillow alone. You are the connection they’re craving.

So don’t be afraid to show up.

Not just as a Realtor.
Not just as a market expert.
But as a whole, real, honest human being.

That’s what they’re here for.
That’s what turns followers into clients.
And that’s what makes your brand unforgettable.
